Mathilde Lachance, originally from l’Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, is a determined and talented defender. Standing at 5 feet 4 inches, Mathilde’s journey to professional soccer is truly inspiring. After being forced to stop playing for two years due to health reasons, she overcame this challenge through heart surgery and a gradual return to the field. In just two seasons after her comeback, she achieved her dream of becoming a professional player.

Before joining the Roses, the defender played for the Rouge et Or at Université Laval, where she had a standout moment leading her team to the Canadian Championship. One of her most memorable experiences was winning the provincial final after a dramatic penalty shootout. She also played for Royal-Sélect de Beauport, where her passion for soccer first took shape.

Alongside her athletic career, Mathilde is actively involved in her community. She is currently an assistant coach for the regional selections of the Capitale-Nationale region. Her motto is simple: nothing is impossible if you stay focused and maintain a positive attitude.

When she is not on the field, Mathilde aspires to become a neonatal nurse and dreams of one day wearing the Canadian national team jersey. The 22-year-old player also has a unique pre-game ritual for important matches—placing three alcohol pads on her right sock—a routine that reflects her attention to detail and preparation. Joining the Montreal Roses is the fulfillment of a childhood dream for her: playing professional soccer in front of her family and friends. Her journey inspires young girls to believe in their dreams, even those that may seem out of reach.
