Hailey Whitaker is a versatile defender and midfielder from Birmingham, Alabama. The 24-year-old stands at 5 feet 1 inch and is known for her right-footed play and ability to impact both ends of the pitch. She joins the Montréal Roses after a strong season with Valur Reykjavík in Iceland.
Hailey fell in love with soccer at age five, drawn to the excitement of outrunning defenders and scoring goals. Last season, she played every minute of Valur FC’s 23 matches, tallying one goal and two assists while helping the club win the Icelandic Cup. She also fulfilled a lifelong dream by competing in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
At Auburn University, Whitaker excelled both academically and athletically, starting 85 of 94 games while transitioning from forward to outside back. She earned multiple SEC Academic Honor Roll and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.
Off the field, she keeps things simple—her game-day superstition is eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She admires Lionel Messi and Virgil van Dijk and enjoys playing video games in her free time.
Now with the Roses, Hailey is eager to help build something special. Inspired by the club’s vision, she looks forward to bringing her experience and contributing to the team’s success in its historic inaugural season.
